In Punjab, renewing a vehicle's token means paying the provincial token tax and, for cars, the FBR advance income tax collected at the same counter. The amount is driven by engine capacity, and for some capacity bands by the car's invoice value. This calculator applies the Punjab schedule, adds the income tax for your filer status, includes the PKR 200 professional tax, and lets you add arrears and penalties for late renewals.

How the Punjab token tax calculation works

  1. 1

    Choose the vehicle type

Car, motorcycle or custom. Motorcycles have a flat PKR 1,500 token tax.

  2. 2

    Enter capacity and invoice value

Engine capacity (cc) selects the fixed tax band, while some bands apply a percentage to the invoice value.

  3. 3

    Set filer status

The FBR income tax component is looked up for filers or non-filers — the difference is roughly three times.

  4. 4

    Add arrears and charges

Arrears, penalties and other charges are added to reach the total, split into quarterly and monthly equivalents.

Worked example: 1,000cc car in Punjab (filer)

Worked example

A 1,000cc car is renewed in Punjab by a filer owner. Here is how the total builds up.

Token tax (≤1,000cc) = 20,000 Income tax (≤1,000cc, filer) = 10,000 Professional tax = 200
Token tax
PKR 20,000
FBR income tax — filer
PKR 10,000
Professional tax
PKR 200
Total payable
PKR 30,200
Quarterly equivalent
≈ PKR 7,550

Estimated result

Estimated total ≈ PKR 30,200 for the year

A non-filer for the same car pays PKR 30,000 income tax instead of 10,000 — so the renewal costs nearly PKR 50,200. Staying on the Active Taxpayer List halves the real cost of car ownership.

Common mistakes when estimating Punjab vehicle tax

  • Forgetting the FBR income tax component collected with the token tax in Punjab.
  • Using the wrong engine band. A 1,300cc and 1,500cc car land in different bands with very different fixed taxes.
  • Entering the wrong filer status. The income tax component triples for non-filers.
  • Ignoring invoice-value bands. Cars in the 1,001–1,199cc and 2,001–2,500cc bands are taxed on the invoice value, not a flat amount.
Tip

File your return to cut vehicle costs

The single biggest lever on this bill is your filer status. Becoming an Active Taxpayer reduces the income tax component to about a third for the same car, and also lowers your withholding rates elsewhere.

Punjab Token Tax Calculator FAQs

How is Punjab token tax calculated for cars?

Punjab's excise department charges token tax by engine capacity: PKR 20,000 up to 1,000cc, then a series of fixed amounts, with some bands charged as a percentage of the invoice value. The calculator applies the full schedule automatically.

Does Punjab collect FBR income tax with the token tax?

Yes. When you renew a car's token in Punjab, an FBR advance income tax on vehicles is collected along with the provincial token tax. The amount depends on engine capacity and your filer status — filers pay about a third of what non-filers pay.

What is the professional tax in this calculator?

A PKR 200 professional tax is charged alongside vehicle token renewal in Punjab. The calculator includes it by default and you can toggle it off if it does not apply to your case.

Why do some engine bands use the invoice value?

Bands such as 1,001–1,199cc and 2,001–2,500cc are taxed as a percentage of the vehicle's invoice value instead of a fixed amount, so the payable changes with the car's price.

Where can I pay Punjab token tax?

You can pay through the Punjab Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department's online portal, via e-Sahulat and other fee collection points, or at the excise office for your district.
