Sindh's vehicle tax system is more layered than Punjab's. A car in Sindh can face a registration fee based on a percentage of the invoice value, a motor vehicle tax, a transfer fee on ownership change, and a luxury tax on bigger cars — plus penalties if you registered or transferred late. This calculator models each component so you can see the real total for a new registration, an existing vehicle, or a transfer.

How the Sindh car tax calculation works

  1. 1

    Choose the calculation mode

New registration, already registered, transfer estimate, or a custom official total.

  2. 2

Enter cc, invoice value and type

Engine capacity sets the registration fee percentage, transfer fee and luxury tax; local vs imported changes the luxury tax.

  3. 3

    Toggle the components

Registration fee, motor vehicle tax, luxury tax, transfer fee, late registration and transfer penalties can each be included or excluded.

  4. 4

Add arrears and read the total

Arrears and other charges are added, and the result is split into quarterly and monthly equivalents.

Worked example: new 1,000cc car registration in Sindh

Worked example

A new 1,000cc locally manufactured car with an invoice value of PKR 2,000,000 is registered in Sindh for the first time.

Registration fee = 2,000,000 × 1% = 20,000 Motor vehicle tax (new, ≤1,000cc) = 20,000
Invoice value
PKR 2,000,000
Registration fee (1%)
PKR 20,000
Motor vehicle tax (new)
PKR 20,000
Total payable
PKR 40,000
Monthly equivalent
≈ PKR 3,333

Estimated result

Estimated total ≈ PKR 40,000 for the new registration

If the same 1,000cc car were already registered and 3–5 years old, the MVT drops to PKR 15,000 — showing how registration age changes the renewal bill.

Common mistakes when estimating Sindh car tax

  • Missing the registration fee percentage. For higher-capacity cars it can reach 5% of the invoice value.
  • Applying the luxury tax to every car. Only larger or imported cars attract it.
  • Forgetting transfer penalties when ownership was changed late.
  • Assuming the motor vehicle tax applies to all cars. Above 1,000cc the amount is set individually by the department.
Note

Above 1,000cc, check the official MVT figure

For cars over 1,000cc, Sindh's motor vehicle tax is set on a case-by-case basis by the excise department. Use the custom official amount input when you have your exact figure, and treat the defaults as a starting point.

Sindh Car Token Tax Calculator FAQs

How is Sindh car token tax calculated?

Sindh's excise department charges a registration fee based on a percentage of the invoice value by engine capacity (1% up to 1,000cc, rising to 5% above 2,500cc), plus a motor vehicle tax for eligible cars, a transfer fee and, for higher-capacity cars, a luxury tax.

What is the motor vehicle tax (MVT) in Sindh?

For new registrations of cars up to 1,000cc, Sindh charges PKR 20,000 as motor vehicle tax; cars already registered for 3–5 years pay PKR 15,000. Above 1,000cc the calculator leaves the amount open because the official figure varies — you can enter the custom official amount.

What is the luxury tax on Sindh cars?

A one-time luxury tax applies to larger cars: for example PKR 25,000 for locally manufactured cars of 1,500cc or more, rising to PKR 450,000 for imported cars of 3,000cc or more.

How is the transfer fee calculated?

When a car changes ownership in Sindh, a transfer fee is charged by engine capacity — PKR 1,600 up to 800cc, rising to PKR 7,000 above 3,000cc. Delayed transfers also accrue a per-day penalty capped at a maximum.

What happens if I register or transfer late?

Late registration attracts a charge based on how late it is (up to PKR 50,000 beyond 120 days), and delayed transfers accrue a daily penalty capped by engine capacity. Both can be added in this calculator.
