About this token tax calculator
Vehicle token tax calculator for cars, motorcycles and total annual charges
Every registered vehicle in Pakistan pays token tax each year — a provincial charge that renews your token and keeps your registration current. The amount depends on your province, vehicle type and engine capacity, and in Punjab an income tax component (FBR advance tax on vehicles) is bundled into the same payment. This vehicle token tax calculator combines the provincial token tax with income tax, professional tax, penalties and arrears to show the full picture for a car or motorcycle.
How the token tax calculation works
- 1
Pick province and vehicle type
Choose Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, KPK or Balochistan, and whether the vehicle is a car or motorcycle.
- 2
Enter engine capacity and invoice value
The token tax is looked up from the province's schedule by engine capacity (cc); some bands use a percentage of the invoice value.
- 3
Set filer status for income tax
For Punjab cars, the calculator suggests the FBR advance income tax for filers or non-filers based on your status.
- 4
Add charges and read the total
Professional tax, penalties, arrears and other charges are added, then the total is split into quarterly and monthly equivalents.
Worked example: 1300cc car in Punjab (filer)
A 1,300cc car registered in Punjab with a filer owner. Using the Punjab schedule and the FBR advance tax table:
- Token tax (Punjab schedule)
- PKR 1,800
- Income tax — filer
- PKR 2,500
- Professional tax
- PKR 200
- Total payable
- PKR 4,500
- Quarterly equivalent
- ≈ PKR 1,125
Estimated result
Estimated annual payable ≈ PKR 4,500
The same 1,300cc car as a non-filer would jump to PKR 7,500 in income tax alone (5,250 + token 1,800 + prof. 200 = 7,250). Filing your return genuinely lowers the vehicle bill.
How engine capacity drives the tax
| Engine capacity | Token tax | Income tax (filer / non-filer) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000cc | PKR 20,000 | PKR 10,000 / 30,000 |
| 1,001–1,199cc | 0.2% of invoice value | PKR 1,500 / 4,500 |
| 1,200–1,300cc | PKR 1,800 | PKR 1,750 / 5,250 |
| 1,301–1,500cc | PKR 6,000 | PKR 2,500 / 7,500 |
| 1,501–2,000cc | PKR 9,000 | PKR 4,500 / 13,500 |
| 2,001–2,500cc | 0.3% of invoice value | PKR 10,000 / 30,000 |
| Above 2,500cc | PKR 15,000 | PKR 10,000 / 30,000 |
Schedules change through provincial finance acts — always confirm the current year's table on the provincial excise portal.
Common mistakes when estimating vehicle tax
- Using the wrong province's schedule. Token tax rates are set provincially and differ sharply between Punjab and Sindh.
- Ignoring the income tax component. In Punjab the FBR advance tax is collected with the token tax, so the 'token' figure alone understates the real bill.
- Choosing the wrong filer status. Non-filers pay roughly triple the income tax component for the same car.
- Forgetting late-payment penalties and arrears that accumulate when a token is renewed late.
